Quadriplegic Patient: Deficiencies in Cyprus' GeSY Hospital

Serious questions are being raised about the operation of a private GeSY hospital following a complaint about a quadriplegic patient who remained immobile for four weeks due to the lack of a patient lift.
The patient was hospitalized in a GeSY hospital without the necessary equipment, resulting in a lack of necessary care for pressure sore prevention.
The Commissioner for Administration had issued recommendations since 2023 for the provision of equipment for people with disabilities, which were not implemented. She has sent a stern letter and is convening an emergency meeting on July 10.
The Cyprus Paraplegic Organization (OPAK) filed the complaint. Dimitris Lambrianidis, president of OPAK, called the incident "unacceptable".
