Meeting on Liver Disease Patients' Issues Held

A meeting between the Board of Directors of the Liver Patients Association and Friends of Cyprus "Prometheus" and the Minister of Health, Neophytos Charalambides, focused on the problems of patients with liver diseases in Cyprus.

The Minister of Health expressed his appreciation for the cooperation with the association and pledged further action. He also thanked "Prometheus" for the donation of a FibroScan machine to the German Medical Institute.

Issues such as the administration of treatment for Hepatitis C and the difficulties encountered within the framework of the GHS were discussed. "Prometheus" referred to problems with the availability of medicines and cases of refusal to provide treatment.

The need for screening programs and strengthening of medical staff was emphasized.
