James Pickens Jr. Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer

Actor James Pickens Jr., known for his role in "Grey's Anatomy," has announced that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The revelation comes just days after an episode of the series aired, in which his character, Dr. Richard Webber, learns that he has the same disease.
The 73-year-old actor spoke to "Black Health Matters" about his diagnosis. He mentioned that due to a family history, he underwent annual check-ups. In a January examination, elevated PSA levels were detected, leading to further investigation and a biopsy, which confirmed the presence of a tumor.
Pickens chose to undergo a radical prostatectomy, a robotic surgical procedure to remove the tumor. The actor shared his story to encourage men to speak openly about their health and eliminate the stigma.
Pickens has been on "Grey's Anatomy" since its first season in 2005.
