The Ministry of Health announced the inclusion of the monoclonal antibody nirsevimab (Beyfortus) in the state healthcare system for the prevention of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in infants and young children.

Minister of Health, Michalis Damianos, presented the action plan for the period 2025-2026, emphasizing prevention, protection, and information. RSV is the main cause of hospitalization for children with acute respiratory infections in hospitals and ICUs in Cyprus.

Nirsevimab offers effective protection, reducing the risk of severe illness. The Ministry of Health is also promoting vaccinations for seasonal influenza and COVID-19.
