The President of the Cyprus National eHealth Authority, Professor Konstantinos Pattichis, emphasized the importance of reliable health data and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, during the opening ceremony of the EHDS-AI Connect 2026 conference in Limassol.

The conference, organized within the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU, focuses on the creation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and its interconnection with Artificial Intelligence.

Professor Pattichis stated that the EHDS is a significant step towards the safe and interoperable exchange of health data between member states.

Cyprus aligns with the EHDS, with the national eHealth framework providing a solid foundation for fully meeting the requirements of Electronic Health Security.

The National eHealth Authority is promoting the MyHealth@EU service and preparing the development of additional services, such as laboratory results and medical imaging.

At the national level, the launch of a health application for mobile phones is planned for November 2026, while preparations are underway for the Electronic Health Record system, with an investment of approximately 20 million euros.

Cyprus is coordinating the Xt-EHR project, contributing to the development of common specifications and the interoperability framework that support the EHDS.

The opening ceremony also featured speeches by EU Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi and Adam Jarubas from the European Parliament.
