Mosquitoes: Which Blood Type Do They Prefer?

As summer brings an increase in mosquitoes, a 2004 study by Japanese researchers reveals that blood type can influence a person's attractiveness to these insects.
The research indicated that mosquitoes show a clear preference for blood type O, biting individuals with this blood type approximately twice as often as those with blood type A. Blood type B appeared to be the least attractive.
Chemicals released from the skin, sweat, and saliva reveal blood type, making some people more desirable targets. Factors such as body heat, breathing, alcohol consumption, and exercise also increase attractiveness.
Pending targeted repellents, individuals with blood type O or A should be particularly cautious.
