Physiotherapist Overcomes Back Pain with Simple Exercise

A physiotherapist overcame chronic back pain with a simple exercise, improving body mobility. Approximately 8 in 10 adults experience back pain at some point in their lives, mainly due to poor posture or prolonged sedentary work in the office.
Sanjit Koomer, a physiotherapist in Canada, suffered from lower back pain for over two years. Common exercises did not provide relief, leading him to take action.
He found that the 'reverse Jefferson curl' exercise can change things. To perform it, stand facing a wall with your hips touching it, join your hands behind your back, and slowly rotate your shoulders and head backward.
Koomer uses a weighted backpack of about 1.5 kg for resistance, helping to lengthen and strengthen back muscles. He recommends 10 repetitions, 4-6 times a day.
For beginners, he suggests supporting the waist with hands and gradually adding resistance, with a maximum weight of 4.5 to 7 kg. The exercise improves strength and control of spinal flexion.
