The National Cancer Registry and new digital tools were presented at the 89th Thessaloniki International Fair (DETH), aiming to improve the care of oncology patients.

The registry, operational since February, collects medical history, treatments, and diagnoses, and can connect with pathology laboratories. According to Konstantinos Michalitsis, Head of the Department of Secondary Healthcare Systems, the registry enables the design of health policies based on accurate data.

New mobile applications aim to be a "digital ally" for patients, offering online appointments and access to support communities. Doctors will be able to monitor patient symptoms while ensuring personal data protection.

Digital oncology boards, via teleconference, will enhance transparency and safe care. Alexandros Breyannis, CEO of NOVA ICT, estimated that the project will be completed in a few months. Emmanouil Saloustros, President of the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncologists, expressed the readiness of oncologists to utilize the new tools.

The project is implemented by the Ministry of Health and IDIKA, through the Recovery and Resilience Fund.
