Successful Surgery on Child with Glass Injuries to Spine

On November 10, 2025, an 8-year-old boy was admitted to Metropolitan Hospital with severe glass-related injuries to his back. The accident occurred during play when the child fell onto a glass table.
Despite initial treatment at another hospital, the child developed symptoms such as fluid loss, headache, and muscle weakness. Tests at Metropolitan Hospital revealed two large pieces of glass lodged in the spine.
Under the guidance of Dr. Marios Lykissas, a multidisciplinary team performed a successful surgical removal of all glass fragments. The child's neurological condition improved immediately, and he fully regained strength in his lower limbs.
The Spine Clinic at Metropolitan Hospital is a reference point for complex cases.
