Greece: Record Increase in Organ Donations and Transplants in 2025

For the first time in Greece's history, a series of four consecutive years of increase in organ donations is being recorded, with 2024 being a milestone year for transplants. According to the president of the Hellenic Transplant Organization, 2025 is expected to be even better.

In 2024, 111 deceased organ donors gave life to 236 fellow citizens. In addition, 125 living donors (123 kidney and 2 liver) contributed to 361 patients undergoing transplantation.

Data from the first half of 2025 indicate that the year will be even more successful in terms of the number of organ donors.
