Greek Cardiology Society Proposes CPR Training for Driver's Licenses

The Hellenic Cardiology Society (EKE) proposes linking driver's license acquisition with training in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). According to the EKE, CPR knowledge can double or triple the chances of survival for a cardiac arrest victim, especially if performed immediately.
The EKE estimates that in Attica alone, up to 600 lives could be saved annually if the general population had CPR training. The society plans to submit a formal proposal to the Ministry of Transport to integrate CPR into the driver's license granting process.
Professor of Cardiology and President of the EKE, Konstantinos Toutouzas, emphasized that CPR knowledge is a guarantee of social contribution and protection of human life.
The EKE organizes certified CPR seminars by the European Resuscitation Council, informing and training the public and health professionals.
