Dr. Daskalakis: Concerns about Changes to Hepatitis B Vaccine in Newborns
Share on:

Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, former head of vaccination policy at the CDC in the US, has expressed fears that there may be changes to the hepatitis B vaccine for newborns. Dr. Daskalakis' concerns come after his resignation from the CDC.

Speaking to ABC News, Dr. Daskalakis said he had concerns for months and that "I never imagined that the wall of protection between science and ideology would completely collapse." He also expressed fears that the new CDC leadership is moving in an ideological direction that could lead to the abolition of vaccination.

According to Dr. Daskalakis, the hepatitis B vaccine is on the agenda for the September meeting. He also referred to the removal of Susan Monarez from her position as head of the CDC and the appointment of Jim O'Neill as interim director.

Former executives of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have expressed concerns about the "destruction" of public health policy and the politicization of science.
