A 15-year-old is fighting for his life after collapsing in Metsovo due to heatstroke and anhidrosis. He is being treated at a specialized transplant center in Turin, where doctors are even considering a non-compatible liver transplant.

Dimitris, as the 15-year-old is named, collapsed last Friday. He was initially hospitalized in Ioannina and Patras before being urgently transferred to Italy due to acute liver failure.

Doctors in Turin remain cautiously optimistic, while a compatible graft is being sought. The option of a non-compatible liver transplant is being considered as a last resort.

The head of the Pediatric ICU of the University Hospital of Patras, Andreas Iliadis, stressed the importance of the first 48 hours. The 15-year-old's condition has stabilized, giving hope for the battle he is fighting.
