The "golden" athletes of the Greek women's national water polo team returned to Athens after winning the gold medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, where they defeated Hungary 12-9. This is the second time the women's national water polo team has won the gold medal, after 2011 in Shanghai.

The team's coach, Haris Pavlidis, expressed complaints about the sport's visibility: "These are our 15 minutes of fame, next week no one will remember us. It doesn't have the visibility it should."

He also referred to promises to create a swimming pool for the national team: "Mr. Vroutsis promised to do everything he can to finally get a swimming pool for the National Team."
