Voula Patoulidou, 33 years after winning the gold medal at the Barcelona Olympics, commemorates the anniversary and remembers her husband, Dimitris Zarzavatsidis, who passed away on July 29 after a long battle with cancer.

In a heartbreaking Instagram post, Patoulidou expressed her love and respect for her husband, writing: "I woke up searching for your hand… The room empty. Our coffee wasn't waiting for me. But I heard your voice. You were my gold, before the gold."

Patoulidou won the gold medal in the 100m hurdles on August 6, 1992, at the Barcelona Olympics, a historic event for Greek sports.

In her post, she thanked her husband for the support he provided her over the years.
