Giannakis: "Greece has an advantage over Spain because of Giannis"

Panagiotis Giannakis spoke to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo about the Greece vs. Spain game in Eurobasket 2025, emphasizing the importance of Giannis Antetokounmpo for the Greek team.

Giannakis, who has won Eurobasket both as a player (1987) and as a coach (2005), was at the "Spyros Kyprianou" stadium in Limassol and stated that "Greece has a great advantage: Giannis. He is the god of the game in the open court."

He also expressed his admiration for the young talented players of Spain, emphasizing that "I envy Spain because they have many talented youngsters."

He referred to the historic journey of 1987 and the success of 2005, emphasizing that Greece has a great advantage due to the existence of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Regarding how Giannis can be stopped, Giannakis said: "It is difficult for Spain because they do not have so many strong and large players. Giannis is unstoppable."
