Athens Authentic Marathon: The Contenders for the Podium

The 42nd Athens Authentic Marathon is highly anticipated, as it will crown the new Panhellenic champions. In the men's race, 74 runners are participating, with six having times close to 2:20:00.

Among the contenders are last year's winner Babis Pitsolis, Panagiotis Karaiskos (winner in 2023), Giorgos Menis, Kostas Stamoulis, Giorgos Stamoulis, and Dimitris Tsakalos. Also, Nikos Stamoulis will make his debut in the Marathon.

In the women's race, 48 athletes will participate, with Matina Noula (last year's winner) and Katerina Koutli standing out. Vasiliki Konstantinopoulou (2022 winner) and Giota Vlachaki will also be at the starting line.

The best all-time Greek performances belong to Kostas Gelaouzos (2:16.49) and Maria Polyzou (2:39.10).
