Greek Actress Sofia Seirli Dies in Drowning Accident

Grief prevails in the artistic world following the news of the death of Sofia Seirli. The 77-year-old actress and screenwriter drowned at Kamari beach in Fournoi Ikarias.

Reportedly, Sofia Seirli attempted to swim from Kamari beach to the small island of Agios Minas. When she did not return, her friend notified the authorities.

Sofia Seirli was born in Alexandria, Egypt on December 1, 1947. She graduated from the Drama School of the National Theatre and collaborated with well-known directors in Greece and Cyprus. She participated in many television series, most recently in "Mavro Rodo" where she played Auxentia.

The actress had spoken about the losses that marked her life, including the death of her mother, father, and sister.
