Tasos Halkias: 'I was beaten by my father'

Actor Tasos Halkias spoke on the show 'Kalimera eipame?' about his upbringing and his relationship with his father. As he said, he received physical punishment until his adolescence.
'I want to believe that I was a good enough father, to the extent that I could have contact with my children, especially in their early years,' said Tasos Halkias. He explained that he was not a strict father, unlike his own father. 'I was not strict, in the sense of imposing punishments or raising my voice, which I received a lot from my father. I could have been left with a bad habit, because I was beaten until I was a big child.'
Tasos Halkias added that times were different and his father's behavior was acceptable then. 'Many times they ask me 'so your father was abusing you?' and I say 'no, not at all, he treated me the way he should to become a good child'.'
He also referred to his career, saying that he has been in the theater for 54 years and that he is happier on the theater stage than on television sets.
