Sean «Diddy» Combs: Appeal Could Lead to Release Before 2028
Share on:

Sean «Diddy» Combs, facing allegations of sexual abuse, has filed an appeal seeking a reduced sentence. While initially sentenced to 50 months in prison, the appeal is being expedited, a rare luxury for inmates.

Following his transfer from the Metropolitan Detention Center to Fort Dix, a low-security correctional facility, the federal appeals court approved the expedited review of the appeal. His defense must submit the grounds for the appeal by December 23, 2025, while the Prosecution must respond by February 20, 2026. The oral hearing is scheduled for April 2026.

His scheduled release is on May 8, 2028. Combs was convicted of “transporting with intent to engage in prostitution,” while acquitted of the more serious charges of trafficking and racketeering. His lawyer, Alexandra Shapiro, challenges the use of the Mann Act in the case.

Fort Dix offers "good conduct" and rehabilitation programs, which, if Combs attends, could reduce his sentence.
