Nonni Dounia: "I've done so many things in secret, I've been punished for them"

In an interview with Sofia Tountouri, Nonni Dounia spoke about her childhood, the role of women, and her own attitude towards marriage and family.
Referring to her childhood, Nonni Dounia recalled moments from Spetses and admitted that she was a lively child, despite the strict upbringing from her parents. "I've done so many things in secret, I've been punished for them, but they have passed, they haven't been written off. But yes, I wasn't a quiet child..." she said characteristically.
Regarding the position of women, Nonni Dounia emphasized the increased responsibilities that women bear, especially as mothers. "I think that things have always been more difficult for women because as mothers, deciding to become mothers, they are called upon to have a more active role than fathers," she said.
Finally, she spoke about her personal attitude towards marriage, stating that it was never part of her dreams. "It was never in my dreams to start a family and get married. I didn't dream of a wedding dress, weddings, etc.," she explained, emphasizing the importance of companionship.
