In a post on October 22, Bardot stated that she is well and has no intention of retiring. The denial came after her discharge from a hospital in Toulon, where she underwent surgery for an unspecified condition.

A representative for Bardot confirmed that the actress is recovering at her home in Saint-Tropez.
