Maria Antona, in an interview with OK! magazine and journalist Nikos Georgiadis, spoke about the loss of her mother and the difficulties she faced.

"When you experience the death of your most beloved person, you start to see life differently. I no longer find a reason to be miserable, to be stressed. Anything that is given to me in life, I now see as a gift," she stated characteristically.

The presenter confessed that the loss of her mother shook her to the core, while also emphasizing that she did not have the luxury of closing herself off. "I had to return directly to my daily life, but that doesn't mean I didn't mourn. It cost me a lot, but I have learned to hide my feelings – or at least try to manage them."

Referring to the absence of her mother, Maria Antona stated that it is more difficult as time goes on. "Because she was very proud when she saw me on television with nice clothes and hair, she would send me messages 'how beautiful you are today'. She would be very happy for me today. I still get emotional."

Maria Antona emphasized that she cannot discuss the loss of her mother, because as soon as she starts talking, she wants to cry. As she said, when it happened, she had to protect her little sister.
