Y. Magkos: "I'll fix you up, my little bird" - What he said to Sengun

Yannis Magkos, the owner of the "Manos" restaurant in Marmarida, described his meeting with Turkish basketball player Alperen Sengun and his family.

Mr. Magkos mentioned that Sengun visited his restaurant and participated in the custom of breaking plates. Referring to the incident, Mr. Magkos stated: "He had no choice but to have fun. When I saw the name on the reservation and was waiting for him, I said 'now I'll fix you up, my little bird, you'll see how we have fun'".

Furthermore, he added: "He was humble and low-profile with his family in a calm phase. I put him at a table near the stage and when the dances started, I grabbed him... and the baptism happened". Mr. Magkos noted that Sengun was not offended by the plate breaking and that his family took it with humor.

"He took it as a joke, he wasn't offended. The whole family was laughing, I took a picture with his father. They were a conservative family, they didn't drink alcohol, they are from the northern Pontus. They were a bit buttoned up at first, but I found a way to unlock them," he characteristically said.
