Elena Akrita: Touching post about her mother's passing

Elena Akrita published a touching post on her personal Instagram account, marking forty days since the death of her mother, Sylva Akrita.

Sylva Akrita, an emblematic figure in the Greek political scene, passed away on December 23, 2025, at the age of 97. She was the first female MP of PASOK and a founding member of the party. She also served as Deputy Minister of Health, Welfare and Social Insurance in the government of Andreas Papandreou. During the dictatorship, she was convicted for her resistance activity.

In her post, Elena Akrita refers to her mother's absence and the daily habits she misses. The post was accompanied by an old photograph and garnered many messages of support.
