Singer Akylas, who will represent Greece at Eurovision, spoke about his mother in an interview with DownTown Cyprus magazine and journalist Giannis Chatzigeorgiou.

The 27-year-old, who won the Sing for Greece 2026 competition, dedicated the song 'Ferto' to his mother, emphasizing that it is part of his story and that from a young age he understood the sacrifices she and his father made for him.

'I dedicated the song to her because there is a part of my story in it – and my story starts with her. She is the person who taught me to fight, not to give up. She is a hero and has had a very difficult life. I wanted to make her proud. Growing up, I understood things that I couldn't see when I was little. I understood the sacrifices, the fears, the weaknesses,' said Akylas.

Referring to his tenderness, Akylas said: 'I think my tenderness and sensitivity are not something that comes exclusively from my DNA, but neither solely from the experiences I have lived. It is a combination of both.'
