Zacharaki: Accelerated hiring of substitute teachers

The Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Sofia Zacharaki, announced that the second phase of hiring substitute teachers will be accelerated and will take place on September 25-26. In the first phase, more than 24,000 substitutes were called, while 48,500 teachers have been appointed since 2019.
Ms. Zacharaki emphasized that the vacancies and shortages in schools will be re-examined, and also referred to the strengthening of the Bank of Themes, after a dialogue with parties, teachers and the community.
In addition, the Minister referred to cooperation with the Onassis Foundation for the training of teachers in artificial intelligence, as well as a pilot program with Pavlos Marinakis and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for the publication of school newspapers.
