Greek Ministry to Verify Executions Photos in Belgium

Experts from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture (ΥΠΠΟ) are traveling to Belgium to verify the authenticity of photographic documents depicting executions in Kaisariani during World War II.
The photographs, which appeared for auction on e-bay, potentially depict the execution of 200 Greek patriots in 1944. The Ministry seeks to acquire the documents, but legal obstacles exist.
The Central Council for Modern Monuments will examine the classification of the photographs as a monument, a necessary condition for their claim by the Greek state.
