Marios Kaleas analyzes how immigration has become a field of political confrontation, with the exploitation of ignorance and indignation.

In an era where political positions are fueled by communication videos, immigration has declined into a central field of sterile political confrontation. The essence is undermined by the exploitation of ignorance.

Demagogues exploit the cracks of ignorance, offering easy answers to complex questions. Images of crowded people and statistical data are used to fuel fear and division.

Populist politicians seek power with viral phrases and outdated prejudices. Self-proclaimed judges of common sense blackmail society into agreeing to their absurdity.

National policy avoids bowing to these fanfares, setting up functional structures and cooperating with European institutions. Some talk about 'poodle dogs', avoiding realistic policies.
