Three years have passed since the Tempi train crash, where 57 people lost their lives. February 28, 2023, marked Greece with sorrow, as families searched for their loved ones in the wreckage.

Despite investigations and suspicions of a cover-up, no substantial accountability has been assigned to those responsible. Accusations exist regarding the moving of evidence and attempts to conceal the truth.

Three days before the anniversary, the digital monitoring platform for the railway network (railway.gov.gr) was launched. A remote control system that could have prevented the tragedy.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Konstantinos Kyranakis, stated that trains are now safer, with the remote control system reaching 80% and expected to be completed soon.

Pending the referral of 35 defendants to the courtroom, questions remain about outdated systems and safety.
