Beyond Frigates: What's Needed for National Pride
Share on:

Criticism is mounting regarding the attempt to promote the acquisition of a new frigate as a reason for national pride. While strengthening defense is positive, it is not enough for citizens to feel proud of their country.

It is emphasized that true pride stems from economic, technological, social, and cultural progress. Citizens want to see a country that is progressing, with equal opportunities, justice, freedom of the press, and prosperity for all.

It is pointed out that the current situation in Greece does not meet these expectations, with phenomena such as brain drain, undermining of universities, and a sense of injustice prevailing. Government misconduct and impunity for the Tempe train tragedy are also mentioned.

Despite citizens' love for the country's history and struggles, there is strong discontent with current policies and the ethos of governance, leading to a strong demand for political change.
