Former President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, spoke at an event of the "Patriotic Association of Descendants of Fighters of 1821 and Historical Families of Greece" for the anniversary of March 25, 1821.

The topic of his speech was the fundamental human rights in the Constitutions of the period of the 1821 Revolution. Mr. Pavlopoulos referred to the influence of Rigas Feraios and the first constitutions of Greece, such as the "Provisional Government of Greece" of 1822, the "Law of Epidaurus," and the "Political Constitution of Greece" of 1827.

According to Mr. Pavlopoulos, historical evidence proves that the vision of the fighting Greeks was the creation of an independent and autonomous Nation-State, based on the liberal principles of Representative Democracy and the guarantee of Fundamental Human Rights, which are guaranteed by a democratically established Constitution.
