ELTA CEO, Grigoris Sklikas, has resigned, submitting his resignation to the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations (HCAP), following strong reactions to the company's restructuring plan, which included the closure of 204 stores.

The resignation comes after an emergency meeting at the Maximos Mansion under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, attended by ministers and Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis.

In his resignation letter, Mr. Sklikas states that dialogue on the implementation of the plan has become extremely difficult due to reactions from MPs. He insists that the loss of postal services has not been accompanied by an adjustment of structures and costs, making the organization unsustainable.

Parliament Speaker Nikitas Kaklamanis stated that 30 New Democracy MPs expressed strong dissatisfaction with the ELTA issue.

Over 40 New Democracy MPs participated in a stormy internal party process, demanding the withdrawal of the restructuring plan.

Deputy Minister of Health, Eirini Agapidaki, supported the restructuring, criticizing the MPs who reacted.
