Panhellenic Seamen's Federation Strike on March 5, 2026

The Panhellenic Seamen's Federation (PNO) has announced a 24-hour nationwide strike for all categories of ships on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 00:01 to 24:00.
The decision was made due to the "particularly serious and dangerous" situation in the Middle East, where hundreds of sailors remain trapped. The PNO is demanding the immediate disengagement of sailors and protection measures from the Ministry.
The Federation also denounced a "provocative act" by a company that, in consultation with the government, was preparing to send a ship to the war zone.
The PNO's demands are: immediate disengagement of sailors, declaration of the area as prohibited for ships, and special care for naval school students.
The strike is expected to affect coastal shipping and maritime activity.
