Panagopoulos: Claims Defamation, Will Speak Publicly

The president of GSEE, Giannis Panagopoulos, announced that he will publicly address the accusations against him in the coming days. In a statement, he mentioned that he has not been notified of the account seizure order, nor is he aware of the findings.
Mr. Panagopoulos claims that the media are judging and condemning him based on a circulated non-paper of unknown authorship, infringing on his personality and defaming him.
He also stated that the Prosecutor's Office forwarded the findings to the Economic Prosecutor. He questioned how long he would have to wait to be notified of the seizure order and the findings in order to respond to the accusations.
Earlier, the head of the Economic Prosecutor's Office, Panagiotis Kapsimalis, ordered an urgent preliminary investigation based on the findings of the Anti-Money Laundering Authority, which forms the basis of the criminal investigation. The findings indicate evidence of embezzlement and money laundering related to the management of funds intended for educational programs.
