Mitsotakis: Aiming for the definitive eradication of sheep pox

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with representatives of livestock farmers at the Maximos Mansion, emphasizing that the government's priority is the complete eradication of sheep and goat pox.

"The only plan we insist on is the definitive eradication of sheep pox," he stated, stressing that there is no alternative plan.

Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized the need to adhere to biosecurity measures, strict policing of illegal animal movements, and effective tackling of illegal vaccination. He reiterated that the government supports livestock farmers, mentioning measures such as income replacement for those who lost livestock due to sheep pox.

The Prime Minister also referred to the next day of Greek livestock farming, mentioning a transition to a new era with certified, quality and competitive products in international markets. Mr. Megalou of Piraeus Bank also attended the meeting.
