Mitsotakis: Kythira to be Supported with N. Evia-Type Program

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with the Mayor of Kythira, Stratos Harchalakis, at the Maximos Mansion, where they discussed restoration and support projects for the island following the recent fires.

It was agreed that a delegation headed by the General Director of Forests and Forest Environment, Evangelos Gkountoufas, would visit Kythira early next week for an on-site inspection and planning of anti-erosion and anti-flood works, as well as a study for reforestation.

To boost the local economy and tourism, a support program will be launched in Kythira, similar to the one implemented in Northern Evia, Thessaly, and Evros. The action will begin next year and will be of long duration.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Interior Thodoris Livanios, the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Kostas Katsafados, the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister Thanasis Kontogeorgis, and Evangelos Gkountoufas.
