Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis inaugurated the new Patras-Pyrgos highway, which was opened to traffic on Friday. The highway is the first fully automated one in Greece, featuring electronic tolls and automatic payment machines.

At the handover ceremony, Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated that it closes a pending issue from the past and corrects an injustice against the citizens of Ilia. He also mentioned the progress of other significant projects, such as Amvrakia, the Fly Over, and VOAK.

Olympia Odos now connects Patras with Pyrgos in 45 minutes and Athens with Pyrgos in 2 hours and 45 minutes. The section from Kaminia to Pyrgos will be available from Friday, August 1, 2025.

With the new section, Olympia Odos becomes the third-largest highway in Greece, with a total length of 277 km, connecting Western Attica, the Peloponnese, and Western Greece.

The event was attended by the Minister of Infrastructure Christos Dimas and Deputy Minister Nikos Tahiaos.
