Kikilias: AEGIS 2 program modernizes the Hellenic Coast Guard

The Minister of Maritime Affairs, Vasilis Kikilias, presented the AEGIS 2 program, which aims to modernize and digitally upgrade the Hellenic Coast Guard.

The program includes the procurement of new vessels and drones, as well as the creation of a state-of-the-art Operations Center. Mr. Kikilias emphasized that the new Operations Center will use multiple data sources, such as drones, cameras, sensors, and satellite imagery, for timely and accurate assessment of each incident.

He also mentioned the procurement of two new Offshore Patrol Vessels, which will have greater capabilities and will be able to operate in adverse weather conditions. Regarding the renewal of the coastal shipping fleet, Mr. Kikilias stressed the importance of cooperation with the European Investment Bank to strengthen investment capital and ensure a safe and technologically advanced fleet.
