Kikilias: Procurement of drones for EEZ and marine parks

The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vasilis Kikilias, announced the procurement of drones for the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and marine parks. The announcement was made during the reception of 51 new vehicles for the Coast Guard.

The contract for the vehicles, worth approximately 2 million euros, had a deadline of 14 months, but the vehicles were delivered 8 months earlier. The new vehicles will be allocated to Coast Guard services throughout Greece to enhance security and oversight of fishing activities.

The Chief of the Coast Guard, Vice Admiral L.S. Tryfon Kontizas, expressed his satisfaction with the upgrade of the operational capabilities of the Corps.

Vasilis Kikilias emphasized that the Ministry will continue actions for the technological upgrade of the Coast Guard, including the procurement of unmanned vessels and the upgrading of port authorities.
