With 157 votes in favor, the Parliament's plenary session decided to refer the former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Kostas Ach. Karamanlis, to the Judicial Council for the Tempi case. 164 MPs participated in the secret ballot.

157 MPs voted in favor of the referral, 6 against, and there was one invalid vote. According to parliamentary sources, the referral was supported by 154 New Democracy MPs (excluding K. Karamanlis) and three independents, while the six MPs from Plefsis Eleftherias voted against. SYRIZA, PASOK, and other parties chose to abstain.

The referral was based on the preliminary inquiry committee's report regarding dereliction of duty concerning the funding and management of the railway network from September 2021 to February 2023.

The decision caused political reactions and tensions in the plenary session. Zoe Konstantopoulou accused New Democracy of a cover-up and called on Kyriakos Mitsotakis to take responsibility.

The referral of Mr. Karamanlis is the first step in examining the Tempi train collision case in February 2023, in which 57 people lost their lives.
