The Greek government aims to reduce bureaucracy and improve citizen and business interaction with the public sector by 2026, simplifying 400 administrative procedures.

The "Mitos" electronic platform (mitos.gov.gr) is the first pillar of the National Policy on Administrative Procedures, offering users the ability to find information on process stages, service points, required documents, processing time, and costs.

To date, 4,153 procedures from 61 entities have been published, with over 1,100 in progress. The second pillar is the National Program for Simplifying Procedures, aimed at reducing bureaucratic steps through digitization and eliminating unnecessary documents.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the selection of the 400 procedures is based on the likelihood of corruption, frequency of use, and impact on economic activity. Emphasis is placed on procedures related to businesses, investments, and social security.

The single digital gateway (gov.gr) and e-prescription are some of the 109 simplification actions already implemented. 47 additional simplifications are under development, such as the digitization of driver's license issuance.

The Bureaucracy Observatory measures the benefits of simplifications. For example, the digitization of registry certificates from AADE saved €984,000 annually and reduced time by 85.7% for citizens.
