Gerapetritis: Turkey-Libya memorandum invalid

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis stated in the Hellenic Parliament that the Turkey-Libya memorandum is invalid and null and void, lacking any basis in international law.

Mr. Gerapetritis referred to his upcoming trip to Libya, emphasizing Greece's support for good neighborly relations and dialogue on the delimitation of maritime zones, based on the Convention on the Law of the Sea.

He pointed out that Libya and Turkey do not have opposite coasts to delineate an Exclusive Economic Zone, making the memorandum contrary to international law.
