The president of GSEE, Yannis Panagopoulos, stated that he will be a candidate again in the upcoming GSEE elections, despite accusations of financial irregularities.

Charalambos Vourliotis, head of the Authority for Combating Money Laundering, has issued an order to freeze Mr. Panagopoulos' accounts, due to indications of embezzlement of funds from Greek State and European Union grants amounting to over 2 million euros.

Mr. Panagopoulos rejected the accusations, linking the publication of the case to his presence in Parliament to defend the Social Agreement. He also made barbs at PASOK, emphasizing the autonomous course of PASKE.

The new PASKE asked him not to be a candidate again, while the old PASKE threatens to withdraw from PASOK if Mr. Panagopoulos is not a candidate.

Mr. Panagopoulos denied the accusations of managing 73 million euros, stating that INE GSEE implemented a 10 million euro program successfully. He also stated that he is not a "700 euro worker", referring to his income.
