Farandouris to Italian FM: Do Not Ignore Greece in the Mediterranean

MEP Nikos Farandouris sent a letter to Italian FM Antonio Tajani, calling on him to coordinate with Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt in discussions regarding the Eastern Mediterranean. The letter followed the trilateral meeting between Italy, Turkey, and Libya in Istanbul, to which Greece was not invited.
Nikos Farandouris expressed concern that Greece was 'ignored' in the trilateral meeting and stressed that Turkey is attempting to reinstate the illegal memorandum with Libya regarding maritime zones, which poses a threat to Greek and European interests.
In his letter, Farandouris emphasizes that Greece and Italy face common strategic challenges and that the EU must act with unity and consistency. He asked Antonio Tajani to coordinate with Greece, Cyprus, and Egypt in the next rounds of discussions on the Eastern Mediterranean.
Farandouris concluded by saying that Greece cannot be a spectator and that it is a force of international legality and stability in the region.
