Investigation Launched into Panagopoulos Case by Financial Prosecutor

An investigation has been launched by the Financial Prosecutor's Office into the case of GSEE president, Giannis Panagopoulos, and five other individuals. The investigation concerns possible embezzlement of national and EU funds and money laundering.

The head of the Financial Prosecutor's Office, Panagiotis Kapsimalis, ordered an urgent preliminary examination. The investigation will be conducted by an assistant Financial Prosecutor, who will examine whether the individuals under investigation committed the crimes of embezzlement and legalization of income from criminal activities.

Initially, orders will be served to freeze accounts and assets. Subsequently, assistance will be requested from banks, the Land Registry, and other audit services to collect data. After collecting the material, Mr. Panagopoulos and the other parties involved will be called to provide explanations.
