Polls and Parties: Impacts and Concerns

Grigoris Nikopoulos analyzes the impact of polls on political parties and society.
According to the author, polls regarding party popularity and voting intentions create problems in many areas. Specifically, they create problems for the government, which does not adjust its policies to the needs of citizens, for PASOK, where internal conflicts are observed, for voters, as a fragmented image of the political scene is presented, for the economy, due to the worrying image presented, and for young people, who cannot envision a stable environment.
The author points out that polls often fail to accurately predict election results, as seen in the 2023 elections. Nevertheless, they influence voters' decisions and shape the political climate.
Finally, the need for parties to better evaluate polls and take into account potential errors is emphasized. In addition, New Democracy and PASOK should take actions to strengthen the economy and address the problems of citizens.
