Municipalities Demand Hellenic Train Ticket Offices Remain Open

Representatives from nine municipalities met with Deputy Minister of Transport Konstantinos Kyranakis, expressing their opposition to the potential closure of Hellenic Train ticket offices.

The Municipality of Trikala was represented by Deputy Mayor Takis Pazaitis. According to a statement from the Municipality of Trikala, the meeting took place on August 26, 2025, following a teleconference of representatives from the 9 local authorities on July 25.

The municipalities' representatives presented their requests, including:

  • Immediate revocation of the decision to close ticket offices.
  • Reinforcement of station staffing.
  • Upgrading of station infrastructure.
  • Review of the passenger service policy.
  • Meeting with the management of Hellenic Train and the competent ministries.
  • Ensuring citizens' right to public transport.

Representatives from the Municipalities of Levadeia, Orchomenos, Amfikleia – Elateia, Lamia, Stylida, Karditsa, Farsala, Trikala, and Volos participated in the meeting.
