Armed Forces to Utilize 802 Properties for Military Housing

The Ministry of National Defence plans to utilize 802 properties belonging to the Armed Forces to financially strengthen funds and construct new military housing. The Minister of National Defence, Nikos Dendias, is promoting a legislative initiative to streamline the management of these properties.

According to Mr. Dendias, by 2026, 1,059 properties will have been constructed from the proceeds of the utilization, compared to the 700 constructed in the previous 20 years. Examples include TETA in Plaka and the National Fleet Fund.

The Minister also mentioned the need to increase the salaries of Armed Forces personnel and address the growing threat in the Aegean region.

Regarding the SAFE program, Mr. Dendias stated that Greece will participate with 1.2 billion euros of fiscal space, which will be used to procure weapon systems.
