Injured Climber Assisted on Mount Olympus – Life Not in Danger

An assistance operation was launched for an injured man on Mount Olympus, near the "Spilios Agapitos" refuge. Firefighters located the injured man in an accessible spot and placed him on a stretcher.
According to the Fire Service, this is not a rescue operation, but rather an assistance operation, as his injury is not life-threatening. Firefighters from the Litohoro Fire Service, as well as the 2nd and 8th EMAK, are participating in the operation.
The man is being transported on a stretcher to a location accessible by an EKAV ambulance, to be taken to a hospital. Due to the lack of an immediate threat to his life, an aerial vehicle was not allocated, in order to maintain the possibility of using it for firefighting, if needed.
Earlier, the 40-year-old injured man told voria.gr that he had requested the use of a helicopter, but his request was denied.
